QAZAQ GREEN FEST 2025

IV International Business Festival on Renewable Energy

History of the festival

The I International Business Festival on Renewable Energy ‘Solar Fest Qazaqstan‘, took place in the summer of 2019, bringing together over 300 participants, including representatives of government agencies, the Financial Settlement Center, the RES auction operator, investors, international experts, financial institutions, and universities. More than just a business event, it served as a full-fledged dialogue platform where key challenges in the renewable energy sector, project implementation difficulties, and future industry prospects were discussed.

Following the festival, a Charter was prepared — an appeal to the Government of Kazakhstan from the renewable energy business community — and sent to the Prime Minister. Over the next four years, most of its provisions were implemented with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Renewable Energy Association. Solar Fest Qazaqstan became an important mechanism for aligning the positions of business and government. Positive feedback from participants led to the decision to continue the format under a new name — Qazaq Green Fest.

The II International Business Festival on Renewable Energy ‘Qazaq Green Fest 2023’, was held in May 2023 under the theme: “Energy sustainability of Kazakhstan: energy transition”. The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Ecology, the Akmola Region Akimat, and key international partners including Huawei, Photomate, UNDP, EDB, KAZENERGY, and others.

The agenda covered topics such as the energy transition, financing, ESG, carbon market development, and government policy in the renewables sector. More than 300 participants took part, including representatives from ENI, Shell, Chevron, KMG, and other companies.

Two new initiatives were also launched during the festival: the Qazaq Green Renewable Energy School, tailored for professionals of various levels, and Kazakhstan’s first voluntary carbon certificate – Qazaq Green Certificate, developed in cooperation with the Caspy Commodity Exchange.

The festival concluded with a Charter from the RES community, and featured a charity initiative, a media competition, an exhibition, and a gala evening on the shores of Lake Burabay in the national park.

The III International Business Festival on Renewable EnergyQazaqGreenFest 2024‘ was held in May 2024 in Burabay under the slogan: “Accepting the Challenges of the Present – Together Towards a Sustainable Future”. It was organized by the Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Association and the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, with the support of the Ministry of Energy, UNDP, GIZ, HUAWEI, ACWA Power, TotalEnergies, and other international partners.

The festival focused on the challenges of economic decarbonization, the development of renewables and electrification, as well as issues of grid modernization and regulatory improvement. The event once again confirmed QazaqGreenFest’s role as a leading expert platform for discussing sustainable energy and fostering dialogue between business and government.
